Reaching teens digitally — but how?

Young people need easy access to local information, programs, and opportunities for participation. Local governments, in turn, need modern ways to reach and engage young people. However, information, events, support services, and opportunities for participation are often scattered across various channels.

CLÄP brings all this content together in one app. Young people receive relevant information, can RSVP to events, and actively participate through surveys. In this way, CLÄP facilitates communication between the community, youth services, and young people — and complements open child and youth work with a digital platform.

Proven in real-world use

CLÄP builds on the experience gained from JUP!, the youth app developed by the Süderbrarup municipal office that won the German Design Award. UXMA developed JUP! as a digital complement to the youth center and youth plaza. Feedback from young people and professionals in child and youth work was directly incorporated into the development process through regular meetings and during key decision-making stages. The focus was on youth-friendly communication, participation, data protection, and privacy.

The features developed for JUP! — and tested in everyday use — form the foundation for CLÄP and can be flexibly tailored to the needs of other municipalities.

15% of young people in Süderbrarup are already registered with the JUP! app. After JUP! was introduced, other municipalities quickly expressed interest.

The interest shown by other municipalities demonstrates that JUP! has potential beyond Süderbrarup: Several have already inquired about possible future uses.

Grow flexibly, design together

CLÄP can be customized to meet your community’s needs and expanded as needed. We develop new features together with you — for example, during a workshop — and integrate them seamlessly into the app.

As an open-source solution, CLÄP remains transparent and flexible. A custom color scheme also allows you to tailor the app’s visual appearance to your community.

Data protection and privacy built in

Protecting personal data is especially important in an app for children and teens. In CLÄP, real names remain protected. Administrators review requests to join groups.

In this way, CLÄP takes into account the responsibilities of the community and youth programs as well as the privacy of young people.

With JUP!, we’re creating a digital hub for young people that brings together information, opportunities for participation, and recreational activities in one place. Our collaboration with UXMA was characterized by a deep understanding of young people’s needs and a partnership-based development process on equal footing.
