Digitization of the Execution of Wills

Testamanagement® simplifies estate administration

What if a digital product dramatically simplified the probate process and led to more efficient outcomes, thereby making users' work easier?

Although estates are increasingly digital in nature, it is often difficult to get a clear picture of which accounts, contracts, and digital services a deceased person actually had. The result: time-consuming research, incomplete information, and a significant amount of manual work for executors. ever&keep tackled this challenge in collaboration with UXMA.

What a match: Digitalization Meets Estate Administration

The starting point for this project was a rough product idea from Mats Kähler, the co-founder of ever&keep. It was based on standard AI systems. However, after jointly reviewing the original concept, UXMA and ever&keep decided to completely rethink their approach. Together, they developed a new solution based on verifiable data sources: Emails and bank statements are analyzed to automatically identify existing contractual relationships, accounts, and payment flows.

For UXMA, this meant not only sharing entrepreneurial risk but also venturing into a largely unfamiliar field: probate, inheritance law, and regulatory requirements in the financial sector. In addition to the technical onboarding, the team had to develop an architecture that meets the strictest data protection requirements (GDPR and DORA compliant) in order to be eligible to partner with banks.

Furthermore, the overarching goal was to deliver a market-ready MVP in the shortest possible time to validate the product idea as quickly as possible with real pilot customers.

From the Idea to the Prototype

It all began with the product idea for ever&keep, which we critically examined and reworked together. The project then followed an iterative approach with clearly defined milestones. We held regular discussions with executors to gain an early understanding of real-world workflows, requirements, and challenges.

An initial UI prototype was created early in the process and tested directly with executors. This helped validate the concept before more extensive development work began. The central question was: Can accounts and contractual relationships be reliably identified through automation?

Highest Standards of Data Protection

At the same time, a system architecture was developed that was designed to be GDPR- and DORA-compliant from the outset. The team opted for a modern event-sourcing architecture based on the CQRS approach. Every state change is stored as an immutable event and remains permanently traceable.

At the heart of the technical solution was a custom-developed, deterministic algorithm for the automatic recognition of contractual relationships and account information. Unlike generative AI models, it delivers reproducible results and avoids “hallucinations”—a crucial factor in a highly regulated environment where traceability and legal certainty are top priorities.

The AI-Chapter

For UXMA, the project marked a new level of AI-driven product development. AI was utilized throughout virtually the entire development process. It supported the team in architectural decisions, code quality, compliance checks, and technical implementation. This made it possible to deploy technologies for which the team did not yet have in-depth expertise at the start of the project. The combination of the teams’ technical expertise and AI-driven development made it possible to significantly increase the speed of implementation and deliver a market-ready product within the specified time and budget constraints in just a few months.

A Market-Ready MVP in Five Months

After just one month, the proof of concept confirmed that the core idea worked and that the foundation for further product development was in place. In the final phase, the user interface and backend were developed in parallel and brought to product readiness. The UXMA team then focused on the technical implementation, and a market-ready MVP was created in just five months.

What We've Achieved

With Testamanagement®, executors now have access for the first time to a digital platform that automates the most time-consuming part of their work: the comprehensive recording and structuring of an estate. The intelligent algorithm identifies contractual relationships and accounts in just a few seconds, generates verifiable documentation, and assists with deadline management and standardized communication with banks, government agencies, and heirs.

What previously often took an entire workday of manual research can now be completed automatically in just a few minutes. At the same time, users benefit from significantly greater transparency, traceability, and legal certainty when handling estates. This frees them up to focus on the truly advice-intensive aspects of their work and noticeably reduces their workload. Furthermore, the platform enables, for the first time, the systematic documentation of the digital estate—an area that has often been incompletely documented in the past.

What's next?

Through a combination of AI-powered product development, audit-compliant software architecture, and a proprietary recognition algorithm, Testamanagement® is positioning itself as a central digital solution in a highly regulated market that has seen little digitization to date.

Testamanagement® is currently being validated and continuously refined in collaboration with pilot customers. The feedback received so far has been consistently positive and confirms the significant benefits of automation for the day-to-day work of executors. In the next step, the product will be adapted and finalized based on feedback from the market.
