Rules and therefore restrictions are not only fundamental to the discipline of design itself - they can also be found in the creative process and are used to generate innovative solutions and change perspectives.
One example is the dreaded blank page among creatives. However, a project starts with at least a briefing, which is followed by research, interviews and further analysis. The sheet is therefore no longer blank as soon as the first line is drawn. And even when the file is opened or the sheet is placed on the table, it is common to use methods with selected restrictions to get the creative process going or speed it up. For example, the Crazy Eight method aims to generate eight ideas in eight minutes, while Six Hat Ideation involves taking on different roles to open up new perspectives.
